Directed by Kieran Hartigan The West’s Awake premièred in Galway last night, just hours after Connacht confirmed that Elwood would be stepping down as head coach at the end of the season.
The cameras follow the western province behind the scenes throughout their début Heineken Cup campaign.
It was an arduous season in which they endured a lengthy run of defeats and an almighty final round win over Harlequins, who would go on to be crowned English champions.
Much of the choice language necessitated by Michael Swift and Elwood within the sanctity of the team huddle is bleeped unintelligible.
But, rest assured, you can enjoy every filthy expletive next Wednesday (October 10), when the film is shown at 9.30pm on TG4. Just in time for their second tilt at the European Cup.
After seeing Johnny O’Connor say “I wanna f**kin ruin somebody’s day,” we can’t flippin’ wait.
