Westmeath on course to meet Dublin in Leinster U21 hurling last four

Westmeath ran out 18-point winners over Carlow this evening.

WESTMEATH ADVANCED TO a semi-final meeting with Dublin in the Bord Gáis Energy Leinster U21HC after a comprehensive win tonight in Mullingar.

Westmeath were too strong on home soil for Carlow as they ran out winners by 18 points. Robbie Greville found the net twice for the winners while David Lynch also scored a goal for Westmeath.

Westmeath were ahead by 2-5 to 0-7 at the break with Greville and Lynch both grabbing goals.

The home side upped the ante in the second-half with Niall O’Brien’s point-taking central to their progress. They were ahead by 2-12 to 0-8 entering the third quarter and were 13 points clear with eight minutes left.

Greville’s second goal sealed their victory and they now advance to face Dublin at the last four stage on June 25th.
