West Ham confirm interest in Nicolas Anelka

The Frenchman is set to leave Shanghai Shenhua over a contract dispute

WEST HAM HAVE confirmed their interest in signing Nicolas Anelka in the January transfer window.

The 33-year-old is in talks over severing his ties with Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua and the London club are hoping that they can be Anelka’s sixth Premier League club.

Having started his career in France, the striker cut his teeth at Arsenal before taking in spells with Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers and Chelsea.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce managed Anelka at Bolton and his assistant Neil McDonald told the Daily Star that a reunion could be on the cards.

“We are looking for good players and Anelka is a good player,” he said.

“He had a fantastic relationship with Sam.”
