We're on the march.. Ireland jump three spots in world rankings

Slow and steady wins the race for Trap while England are now, apparently, the fourth best team in the world according to FIFA.

IRELAND’S RECENT RUN of form has earned the Boys in Green a modest boost in new world rankings released this morning.

Giovanni Trapattoni’s side won their last two Euro 2012 qualifiers, as well as beating Italy in a friendly, and that form has helped the national team climb three places to 31 in the standings.

Ireland face Slovakia in a crucial clash in September.

England, meanwhile, have climbed to an nose-bleed inducing fourth. It equals their highest placing despite their poor run of form recently.

Amazingly, Fabio Capello’s side are now above Brazil and Argentina while Spain continue to top the charts.

The top 10 is: 1. Spain, 2. Holland, 3. Germany, 4. England, 5. Brazil, 6. Italy, 7. Portugal, 8. Croatia, 9. Mexico, 10. Argentina
