IRELAND’S JOHN JOE Joyce lost on points in his World Series of Boxing debut last night.
Joyce was signed up by the Miami team, joining fellow Olympian Kenneth Egan.
But he was beaten on his American bow by Russell Lamour overnight, RTÉ reports.
Egan’s scheduled opponent Dorian Anthony failed to make weight, meaning Egan was awarded a walkover.

Joyce, the four-time Irish senior champion, and Egan were part of the five-man squad that claimed Ireland’s only medals (one silver, two bronze) at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The St Michael’s Athy clubman penned a one-year contract. Miami Gallos are competing in a four-team WSB group, which includes Los Angeles Matadors, Memphis Force and Mexico City Guerreros.
