WHEN A NON-league side makes it to the business end of the FA Cup, a cult hero is often born.
Sutton Unitedโs reserve goalkeeper Wayne Shaw regularly appeared in interviews ahead of the non-league sideโs clash with the Premier League giants, and further pencilled his name into folklore with his performance during the 2-0 defeat to the Gunners.
Shaw was photographed hoovering the dugouts, while he visited the bar at half-time, and then was seen eating a pie on live television.
Incidentally, Shaw and BBC pundit Alan Shearer were once team-mates in the Southampton youth team.
โHe did (play in the same team as me), absolutely. When we were 14 or 15,โ said the Premier Leagueโs all-time leading goalscorer before Sutton took on Arsenal in the FA Cup.
โI actually followed my dreams to the Premier League, and he followed his to the burger van, I think.โ

A brilliant story and legacy. Brendan Ingle changed the lives of many young men. Not just the world champions. Community activism at its bestโฆ
@Brian Dalton: couldnโt agree more. Had a great heart & soul. Naseem should have listened to him more too.
Sad news but what a legacy he has left behind. Made a difference.
Great trainer and his legacy will be carried forward with Domโฆ RIP
