Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata are toying with Roma this evening

Louis van Gaal must be positively purring in Denver.

MANCHESTER UNITED GOT their latest pre-season friendly off to a sublime start in Denver with a couple of peachy keen goals against Roma.

Wayne Rooney started the fun with a superbly curled strike and then set up teammate Juan Mata for a second that was akin to Dennis Bergkamp’s World Cup ’98 goal against Argentina.

The match eventually finished 3-2 with Rooney adding a second from the penalty spot. Check out the first two goals here and here [below].
