Bayern Munich turn their nose up at signing want-away Wayne Rooney

The club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer says they’ll leave it go to missed call if it’s a Manchester number.

WAYNE ROONEY IS not on Bayern Munich’s radar, according to the club’s sporting director Matthias Sammer.

The English forward has handed in a second transfer request at Old Trafford, with the 27-year-old keen to end his nine-year stint in Manchester.

Free-spending Paris Saint-Germain of France and German giants Bayern appeared to be Rooney’s most likely destinations, but the latter as good as ruled a move out yesterday. Sammer told reporters at the pre-UEFA Champions League final media day at Wembley that although his club had “great respect” for Rooney, they were unlikely to sign him.

“I don’t know what Rooney would bring to the Bundesliga. I can’t answer that,” Sammer said. “I can answer that we have great respect for Wayne Rooney, but there has been no contact with him. He’s not on the agenda. No, no. Absolutely not.”

Rooney has scored 197 goals in 402 matches in all competitions for Manchester United, since moving from boyhood club Everton in 2004.
