WATCH: Liverpool and Arsenal impress in pre-season runouts

Charlie Adam makes debut for Reds as they come out on top in seven goal bonanza while Arsenal cruise past Malaysian All Stars.

KENNY DALGLISH WAS provided with plenty to be happy about as his Liverpool side put four goals past Guangdong Sunray Cave in a friendly game earlier today.

The game, played in southern China, eventually finished 4-3 to the visiting Liverpool side, after two late consolation goals from the Chinese League One team.

Christian Poulsen put the Reds ahead, after 19 minutes, with David Ngog breaking clear to slot the second just a minute later. The local side pulled one back just before half time.

The second period saw Charlie Adam handed his Liverpool debut, but it was 18-year-old Conor Coady who put the visitors further ahead with a well taken finish in the 70th minute. Andy Carroll then finished untidily from Maxi’s cross to make it 4-1 before the late fightback from Guangdong.

Meanwhile, Arsenal got their pre-season under way with a 4-0 demolition of Malaysian All Stars.

The Gunners started brightly, with Aaron Ramsey tucking away a fifth minute penalty after Jack Wilshere was brought down inside the area.

Ramsey then turned provider later in the half as he put Theo Walcott away to lob the oncoming keeper and double the lead.

Early in the second half Arsenal made it 3-0 when Tomas Rosicky put Carlos Vela through to deftly chip the keeper. Rosicky himself got on the scoresheet in the dying minutes, Arshavin providing the assist for a close-range header.
