WATCH: Incredible late, late save wins Winter Classic for New York Rangers

It’s cold, it’s outdoors and ice hockey’s annual event ended dramatically this weekend.

DESPITE CONCERNS EARLIER in the week due to the possibility of nice weather, and recent concerns of the last-minute change to the start of the game, the Winter Classic was resounding success.

The ice hockey game is always played around the time of the new year and outdoors.

This year, a great game was capped by an even more incredible finish.

After crashing the net with just 20 seconds remaining and trailing 3-2, the officials awarded Danny Briere of the Flyers a penalty shot. And that’s when Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist came up huge, stopping Briere cold and preserving the win.
