WATCH: Father of Les Blues star Imanol Harinordoquy runs on to pitch to defend son

Basque derby between Biarritz and Bayonne was interupted when the No 8′s father swung at two players. Embarrassing.

IT SEEMS YOU’RE never too big to be embarrassed by your dad.

Imanol Harinordoquy is one of the biggest names in world rugby, a star for the French national side and probably the best No 8 in the game.

But during last night’s Top 14 league game, he must have felt like a child again.

As his side Biarritz took on Bayonne in the Basque derby, Harinordoquy clashed with a couple of opposing players.

But rather than watch from the stands, the player’s father, Lucien, ran on to the pitch and attempted to punch one of them, Jean-Jo Marmouyet.

He was quickly put on his head and ushered to the sideline. Watch it here:

“I tackled him because he was attacking one of my team mates. I put him to the ground and Benoit August told me to stop, because it was Imanol’s father,” Boyet told French sports daily L’Equipe today.

Bayonne president Michel Cacouault said the club plan to file a complaint.  For the record, Biarritz won the game 21-19.
