We have really enjoyed Brendan Dolan’s run to the final at the World Grand Prix in Dublin though, the Northern Irishman claiming his place in style with a superb nine-dart finish.

In action against defending James Wade, Dolan threw 160, 180 and 161 towards the end of the second set and eventually set up a showdown with Phil Taylor by a score line of 5-2.

Speaking to Sky Sports afterwards, Dolan said: “I can’t believe it myself. The form I’ve had this year… I never expected (to reach) a final in a major competition. The money doesn’t matter, it’s about getting to a final and making a name for myself.”
The 38-year-old Fermanagh native played in his first Major tournament semi-final in taking on Wade and when he was asked about those nine darts, he concluded: “The only thing I thought when I did it was, ‘I’ve done it before Phil’, because he will do it!”
