WATCH: Brazilian player punches referee following red card

Midfielder Derlan has been banned for two years, following the incident.

A RECENT GAME between two little-known Brazilian sides featured an incident that won’t be easily forgotten.

During a game involving EC Iranduba and Sao Raimundo, midfielder Derlan reacted furiously to a red card he received.

The player was reportedly incensed that the referee only dismissed him on the advice of the fourth official, having not seen the alleged incident himself.

He subsequently punched the referee several times, before the fourth official and two riot police intervened.

It has since been announced that Derlan faces two-year ban as punishment for his behaviour.
