UNHAPPY WITH THE decision of match officials to award a penalty against his side, goalie Remus Danalache of the Romanian League’s Vointa Sibiu happened upon a unique form of protest.
Like some placid, footballing martyr, he decided to turn his back on the kicker.
There is, unfortunately, a rule stating that goalkeepers must face the taker of a penalty kick, meaning that Danalache had to reorient himself for a second attempt. He still managed to strike a vaguely messianic pose as the ball flew into the net, though.
