Walsh falls at Newbury but expected to be fit for Saturday

Ruby Walsh had a scare when he fell from Curtain Razer on Friday.

RUBY WALSH WAS injured in a fall at Newbury on Friday but is expected to be fit to ride in the Hennessy and Long Distance Hurdle on Saturday.

The Kildare rider had to be stood down when he fell from Curtain Razer in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle, and the course doctor prevented Walsh from competing in the final two races of the card.

Walsh rides Tidal Bay in the Hennessy and Big Buck’s in the Long Distance Hurdle.

Clerk of the course Richard Osgood said: “He’s got a sprained thumb and was stood down today, so he will have to be checked over by the doctors in the morning.”
