AMERICA’S GAME HAS an unbearably long off-season. So we fully understand the crazy obsession some US fans have as the start of a new NFL campaign draws near.

In Tennessee today, the Titans put a number of single game tickets up for sale. As you’ll learn from the video above, it was once a traditional pilgrimage for Titans fans to camp and queue overnight to ensure they could see their team play one of just eight guaranteed home fixtures. These days. the numbers have withered away and left only a few die-hards.

With such slim pickings of human interest stories, Stephanie Langston of WKRN-TV felt the need to wake up the most dedicated fan of all, David Cline, who had been out operating as a one-man queue for over 24 hours.

We hope he gets his ticket, and not just a patronising rub on the shoulder.
