AMERICANS SURE DO take their high school athletics meets seriously.
At the Hispanic Games in New York last weekend, this track brawl broke out between two New York schools — named in US reports as Mount Vernon High and Thomas Jefferson High — during the heats of the 4x400m relays.
It all started with what seemed to be a relatively innocuous collision as the lead runners jostled for position ahead of the baton exchange but escalated fairly quickly when athletes from both sides piled into the mix.
This never happened in the fourth class egg and spoon race, that’s for sure.
