The first was clearly more important as it came on set-point in the second set, with Federer trailing one set to none. On the 20th shot of the rally, Federer charged the net and laid down a beautiful backhand volley that hit the grass and basically took a left-hand turn, which left John McEnroe screaming “Are you kidding me!?”
The second was less meaningful as Andy Murray would actually win the game. But shortly after the delay in the third set in which the roof was closed, Federer hit a tough angle, drop-shot from behind the baseline. I repeat, from behind the baseline…
