THIS CRACKING PIECE of skill from Simon Cox has been named as the Mitre Goal of the Year at the Football League awards in London.
The Nottingham Forest and Republic of Ireland striker produced a Dennis Bergkamp-style first touch before lobbing the ball over Birmingham’s Jack Butland, with the 25-year-old’s strike helping his side to fight back to draw 2-2 at the City Ground back in September.
Meanwhile, Watford starlet Matej Vudra – on loan at the London club from Udinese – was named Player of the Year after scoring 20 goals for Gianfranco Zola’s promotion chasers.
