THIS CRACKING PIECE of skill from Simon Cox has been named as the Mitre Goal of the Year at the Football League awards in London.
The Nottingham Forest and Republic of Ireland striker produced a Dennis Bergkamp-style first touch before lobbing the ball over Birmingham’s Jack Butland, with the 25-year-old’s strike helping his side to fight back to draw 2-2 at the City Ground back in September.
Meanwhile, Watford starlet Matej Vudra – on loan at the London club from Udinese – was named Player of the Year after scoring 20 goals for Gianfranco Zola’s promotion chasers.
The 20-year-old beat competition from Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray and Blackpool winger Tom Ince, who took the Young Player of the Year despite being a year Vydra’s senior.
Skills !
Fair play Simon! Some cracking goals made the top 5. Sam Byram for Leeds was super! MOT!!!!
Well done Simon. Has worked his ass off for us this year and thoroughly deserved to win. If Messi scored this goal Sky Sports would be creaming their pants and rightly so. Conor Sammon could only dream of scoring something like that.
Dont care what kinda goal he scores 2moro nite ,even if the ball bounces of his butt ,Well done lad
