VIDEO: Petter Solberg's bizarre crash at Rally France

This could quite easily be set to some Benny Hill music.

THANKFULLY, NOBODY WAS hurt as Petter Solberg and his navigator crashed out of the Rallye de France on Saturday morning.

In what looks like the kind of crash that the makers of The Simpsons would happily commit to animation, the 37-year-old Norwegian and his navigator came off the road, drove through some vines, crossed another road, more vines, and then hit a telephone pole that collapsed and caused some of the vines to catch fire.

“I knew the road was going up on the right again but there were leaves on the windscreen and I couldn’t see… It was a big hit and we broke a steering arm,” Solberg, who had been fourth at the time, said afterwards.
