SPURS DEFEATED Lyon 2-1 in their Europa League last-32 first leg tie with Lyon at White Hart Lane thanks to two pretty special free-kicks from Gareth Bale.

After missing a sitter minutes earlier, the Welshman made amends by getting his set-piece up and over the French wall on the stroke of half-time for his sixth goal in five games.

On the 55th minute, Cameroon defender Samuel Umtiti drew the Ligue 1 side level with an equally cracking half-volley.

With a draw looking increasingly likely, however, Bale notched his second of the night in dramatic fashion three minutes into time added on.
