AS THE MANAGERS and danger men of Down and Donegal performed their media duties ahead of tomorrow’s Ulster final in Clones, one thing was certain: nobody was keen in making any brash claims.
James McCartan was happy to assume the role of underdog, saying:
“We’re coming in unfancied, under the radar. On our day, if we perform, we feel we’re going to give ourselves a chance.”
Meanwhile Jim McGuinness, wearing a very smart blue jumper, echoed the sentiment of McCartan, but in many more words.
“It’s all about performance. And it’s about ourselves and getting our own performance right. It’s about executing the things we’ve been working very hard on on the training ground and delivering them on the field of play.
“If we can do that, we’ll be very happy. It doesn’t guarantee us that we’re gonna win the watch, but it guarantees us that we’re gonna perform and if you perform then you’re going to be competitive and that guarantees that you have a chance of wining the match.”
The above video also features the pre-match thoughts of Mark Poland and Michael Murphy. You can see those two men, and many more, in Ulster final action from 2pm tomorrow on TV3.
Ormond is a class act hopefully he gets a bit more recognition after this as he is not that well known.
