NEW ZEALAND MAY have won their one-day series against England but at least one cricket fan walked away from Trent Bridge with a smile on his face yesterday.
Chris Newell landed a massive £50,000 payday when he nailed the fans’ bowling challenge in front of 16,000 people .
Newell was set the task of hitting three stumps, then two, and finally one with three consecutive deliveries.
After he hit the mark with his first two attempts, the 50-year-old from Yorkshire was offered a new ball as he took aim for the decisive shot.
But he stuck with his lucky ball and it paid dividends as he struck the lone stump to win the jackpot.
