Video showing couple 'having sex' on football pitch was a hoax

Charlton admitted video footage that received over one million hits online was a publicity stunt.

CHARLTON ATHLETIC HAVE admitted a video released allegedly showing a couple having sex on their pitch was a hoax.

Having previously played dumb and claimed the video was not orchestrated, the club have since owned up and admitted that footage appearing to show the couple having sex in the centre circle was a publicity stunt.

The video received over one million views online, with the club claiming the couple had broken into their ground and suggested they were investigating the incident.

“We decided to own up and explain that it was set up by us to launch our pitch hire campaign,” commercial manager Mark Hassan-Ali told reporters.

The club are initiating a new ‘Score at the Valley’ offer on their website — a scheme that gives fans the chance to play football on the pitch during the summer.
