'My first touch in Gaelic football': Vialli and Redknapp get to grips with their new GAA clubs

In this week’s episode of The Toughest, Luca is told all about the amateur ethos of the GAA.

EPISODE TWO OF this season’s The Toughest Rivalry’ opens with Gianluca Vialli getting a lift out to Finglas.

The former Juventus great has his headphones in, but nonetheless engages enthusiastically as he is introduced to the rudimentary elements surrounding Gaelic football by devoted Erin’s Isle clubmen.

“Erin’s oil… come on the oils!”

No sooner has Luca seen a few hurling drills and gotten a fist pass away – “my first touch in Gaelic football. That wasn’t too bad” – Johnny Barr arrives, introduces himself as ‘the Bull’ and preaches the good word of the GAA to Vialli. The Italian is impressed enough to ask Barr not to leave his side.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp is down in Cork dressed for any weather a golf course could possibly throw at him. On Castlehaven turf, he encourages the squad of boys and girls out training and tells them how hard Harry Kane works.

But it’s all building to the moment these football men are introduced to the fiery former meetings and the rivalry that exists between Erin’s Isle and Castlehaven.
