SINCE HORTON SMITH won the first US Masters in 1934, Augusta National has seen it all — comebacks, meltdowns, fairytales and heartbreak.
We break down golf’s most famous tournament by the numbers that really matter.
0 – The number of players to win the pre-Masters Par 3 tournament on Wednesday and then go on to win the tournament outright. Beware.
+1 – The highest four-round total to win the Masters. It has only happened on three occasions — Sam Snead in 1954, Jack Burke Jr. in 1956 and, most recently Zach Johnson in 2007.

3 – The number of players who have won back-to-back titles at Augusta National: Jack Nicklaus (1965 & 1966), Nick Faldo (1989 & 1990) and Tiger Woods (2001 & 2002).
5 – The number of holes-in-one scored over the four days of the 2002 tournament, the highest yet.
6 – The number of Masters Championships won by Jack Nicklaus; Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods come next with four each.
12 – The number of non-American champions at Augusta National, compared to 35 domestic winners.
14 – The number of times the tournament has been decided by a playoff, most recently last year when Bubba Watson beat Louis Oosthuizen.
18 – The number of strokes that Tiger Woods finished under par in 1997, a Masters record.
21 – Years and 104 days – Tiger Woods’ age when he won his first Masters in 1997, becoming the youngest player to have won the tournament.
23 - The record number of consecutive cuts made by both Gary Player and Fred Couples.
25 – The highest number of birdies scored by one player in a single tournament – Phil Mickelson in 2001. That was only good enough for third place believe it or not.
50 – The highest number of consecutive appearances made by Arnold Palmer between 1955 and 2004.
63 – The course record at Augusta National, jointly held by both Nick Price (1986) and Greg Norman (1996) who scored nine-under par.
72 – Par at Augusta National.
77 - 2013 is the 77th time which the tournament will be played.
