The LA Galaxy man was this morning reported to be on his way to Aston Villa on a loan deal during the MLS off-season.
The Irish Daily Star (print edition) reported that the player will fly in to Birmingham later this week to put pen to paper, despite previously indicating that he would spend his two months off resting in preparation for Ireland’s upcoming Euro 2012 campaign.
The move to Villa Park may well happen of course – with Keane available until March – but a statement on Spurs’ official website reads: ”The club can confirm that Robbie Keane will train with the First Team squad up until January 20 in order to build up his fitness ahead of returning to LA Galaxy for the start of the new MLS season.”
