United finally beat Barcelona, and it matters not a jot

As pointless victories secured by non-playing strikers go, this one was quite good actually.

MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE done what they could not manage in any kind of meaningful encounter, and beaten Barcelona.

Michael Owen, the darling of those lucky Old Trafford fans who get to heckle the players on that easy access subs bench, shed his shellsuit to score the winner in a 2-1 victory at Washington’s FedEx Field.

Nani had opened the scoring only to see Thiago give David de Gea no chance for the Catalans’ equaliser.

In other news, Alex Ferguson expects Javier Hernandez to be playing again in three to four weeks.
