A statement from the wrestling body said: “WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior.”

The Ultimate Warrior entered the WWE in 1987 and became WWF champion in 1990, defeating Hulk Hogan after bringing this infamous promo speech to the world.

His impassioned induction speech at the hall of fame this week was more in tune with Hellwig’s own persona. There is no official confirmation of his cause of death.
