Is this the greatest knockout in UFC history?

All opinions are valid, but it’s difficult to deny this spinning-wheel kick by Edson Barboza as the best-ever knockout in the UFC’s 21 years.

WHATEVER ELSE HE does for the remainder of his career, it’s difficult to foresee UFC lightweight Edson Barboza being remembered for anything other than his incredible spinning wheel-kick knockout of Terry Etim at UFC 142.

As the pulsating back-and-forth contest wore on, the Brazilian would wait until almost the mid-way point of the third and final round to unleash this spectacular and rarely seen Muay Thai strike, to clean Etim’s clock.

The manoeuvre is executed with such precision and power that poor old Terry is long unconscious before hitting the mat.  The reaction of commentator Joe Rogan, only adds to the spectacle.

Unsurprisingly, Barboza was awarded €50,000 bonus for the knockout of the night, and the same again, along with Etim, for the fight of the night. The kick was voted knockout of the year at the World MMA awards, and by Inside MMA, MMA Valor and Sherdog.

Barboza faces Bobby Green on the main card of UFC Fight 57 on Saturday night, in what promises to be one of the best bouts at 155lbs this year.
