UCI have dropped their lawsuit against me - Kimmage
THE UCI HAVE dropped their lawsuit against Paul Kimmage, the Irish journalist said on Twitter this evening.
The organisation had sued the former cyclist after he allegedly made defamatory remarks about Pat McQuaid and Hein Verbruggen in an interview with l’Equipe.
A defence fund was subsequently set up to help pay Kimmage’s legal costs and the organisation later suspended the lawsuit pending the findings of an independent commission.
And the saga seemingly came to a definitive end this evening, as Kimmage tweeted: “Was notified this afternoon that the UCI have dropped their legal action against me. I also had a brief conversation with Brian Cookson…”
The move comes after Cookson defeated Pat McQuaid — who Kimmage has been a longstanding critic of — in the recent UCI presidential election.
