Fury claims negotiations for world-title fight with Wilder are 'very close to being done'

Tyson Fury claims it’s likely that he’ll face the American WBC champion in December.

FORMER WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT champion Tyson Fury has claimed that his team is in negotiations with that of WBC world champ Deontay Wilder with a view to making a December title fight between the pair, and that talks have already nearly reached their conclusion.

‘The Gypsy King’ [26-0, 19KOs] is currently deep in preparations for the second fight of his comeback on Carl Frampton’s undercard at Windsor Park next month, where it was presumed his clash with Francesco Pianeta would be merely another small step towards title contention following Fury’s two-and-a-half-year absence from the sport.

Instead, it could serve as a warm-up for a winter shot shot at the nuclear-fisted Wilder [40-0, 39KOs], who knocked out Cuban contender Luis Ortiz back in March.

Fury’s promoter Frank Warren told talkSPORT this morning that he was hopeful a fight between his star heavyweight and the American WBC king could be made for ‘November or December’, and Fury reiterated his message with a stark warning for Wilder, with whom he enjoys a barb-filled but respectable relationship.

“I won’t be overlooking Franceso Pianeta,” Fury said.

“He’s going to give me the right fight and the right work to prepare me for Deontay Wilder. Got to flatten him first and then Wilder; let’s dance.

You’ve been dealing with shithouses in the past with Eddie Hearn and [Anthony] Joshua. But I am a man of my word and if I say I’ll fight, I’ll fight you. End of. Prepare well, train hard, let’s get the deal done and when I knock Pianeta into next week I’m going to knock you spark out too. Good luck.
