TWO MEN HAVE been banned for life after the Tyrone County Board completed its investigation into the assault of referee Simon Brady and the county’s Ladies GFA chairman Martin Conway, RTÉ reports.
The incidents in question took place at the end of the Ladies county final between Carrickmore and St. Macartan’s in Beragh last month.
A post-match pitch invasion was sparked when Brady blew for a late free to St. Macartan’s, allowing the Augher side to convert the winning point. As he checked his scores following the final whistle, the referee was knocked unconscious by a punch, as was Conway when he tried to intervene.
Condemning the incidents, the Tyrone County Board announced last night that two men – reported to be a Carrickmore supporter and a member of the Carrickmore management team – had been banned from any future involvement with Ladies gaelic football.
