Sexton has starred in the Six Nations for Ireland this year. Peter Morrison

Two Irish players have made one Australian site's rugby world XV

The Roar’s team was prompted by a list of the Telegraph’s ‘Top 100 rugby union players’.

CONOR MURRAY AND Jonathan Sexton are not only highly regarded on these shores, it seems.

The Ireland duo feature alongside an array of star names, including Kieran Read, Israel Folau and Bismarck du Plessis, in a recent world XV compiled by Australian sports site The Roar.

Murray and Sexton have been in fine form during Ireland’s unbeaten Six Nations campaign – speaking on Off the Ball recently, Irish legend Brian O’Driscoll even went so far as to describe the latter as “probably the best player in the world at the moment”.

The Roar’s team was prompted by a list of the Telegraph’s ‘Top 100 rugby union players,’ in which Sexton came eighth, while Paul O’Connell was 17th.
