It was a busy year for Irish sport.

TWITTER HAS REVEALED what sports stories people have been talking about on the social network this year.

It was a busy year for Irish sport with the national football team making it to the World Cup play-offs before falling to Denmark, while Conor McGregor took on Floyd Mayweather in mega Las Vegas showdown back in August.

Ireland successfully hosted the Women’s Rugby World Cup, Galway lifted the All-Ireland hurling title and the Joe Schmidt’s rugby side denied England the Grand Slam with a victory at the Aviva Stadium in March.
