HOWARD WEBB ANNOUNCED his retirement from refereeing today to take up a role as a technical director of Professional Game Match Officials Limited, which runs refereeing in England.
Whether you think he favoured Man United or not, being the first ref to take charge of the Champions League and World Cup final in the same year is a decent achievement. Anyway here is some of the Twitter reaction to the news, think most of the jokes have been exhausted by now unfortunately…

Didn’t hear anything from Paddy Power the other day after the hacking incident strangely enough.
the bitterness that caused people to actually believe that he favoured Utd was hilarious. the go-to excuse when your team got played off the pitch and Webb was involved. great ref.
Oddly the football world just didn’t motivate him after an occurance in summer 2013.
