THE TULLOW TANK will not run at the Cheltenham Festival.
Owner Barry Connell says the uncertainty around trainer Philip Fenton’s ongoing court case for alleged possession of anabolic steroids has prompted the decision just weeks out from the famous Cotswolds event.
The Fenton case was today adjourned in Carrick-on-suir until 20 March — some time after the start of the festival.
“The case has been adjourned and due to the uncertainty surrounding the matter,” Connell told the PA. “I have decided the two horses I have in training with Philip won’t run again until the matter is dealt with. Both horses will remain in training with Philip.”

Betfair, meanwhile, say they will refund all single stakes placed on Philip Fenton’s charge for both the Supreme Novices Hurdle and the Neptune Novices Hurdle.
“Under the circumstances we thought it only fair to refund single Ante-Post bets placed on The Tullow Tank for both the Supreme and the Neptune,” spokesperson, Barry Orr said today.
