Trap keeps faith with Andorran XI for Russia

Giovanni Trapattoni names his starting eleven for tomorrow’s clash with Russia – the same team that beat Andorra.

GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI has kept faith with the same Republic of Ireland team that defeated Andorra last month for tomorrow evening’s Euro 2012 qualifier with Russia at the Aviva Stadium.

The starting eleven bears no changes from that night, with Richard Dunne overcoming a knee injury though the site remains without Keith Andrews and Damien Duff who both sat out the Andorran clash.

The same eleven also played in Ireland’s first qualifier match, away to Armenia in Yerevan.

The side is as follows:

  • Shay Given (Manchester City)
  • John O’Shea (Manchester United)
  • Sean St Ledger (Preston NE)
  • Richard Dunne (Aston Villa)
  • Kevin Kilbane (Hull City)
  • Liam Lawrence (Portsmouth)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke City)
  • Paul Green (Derby County)
  • Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow)
  • Robbie Keane (Spurs)
  • Kevin Doyle (Wolves)

The substitutes for the clash will be named tomorrow.

Russia will be without Tottenham forward Roman Pavlyuchenko who picked up an ankle injury against Aston Villa at the weekend, and will not make the trip to Dublin.

Ireland lie top of the group with six points, tied with Slovenia, while Russia lie adrift on three.
