WITH JUST 75 days until the transfer window closes it’s about time clubs began making some headway in the transfer market. Every afternoon, we will bring you a selection of the good, bad and utterly ridiculous transfer rumours doing the rounds.
Hull sign Maynor Figueroa: Having been relegated, Wigan Athletic released the Honduran full-back at the end of the season. The 30-year-0ld was a target of a number of Premier League clubs but former manager Steve Bruce has persuaded him to join the newly-promoted Tigers.
Southampton bring in Degan Lovren: The Saints have splashed out £6.8m for Lyon’s Croatian defender, who has experience playing in the Champions League but was keen to move to England.
Tevez off to Italy? He has been tipped to leave Manchester City for some time and it now looks like Serie A is the most likely destination with both AC Milan and champions Juventus interested in taking the temperamental Argentine striker.
Liverpool want Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder: Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is being targeted by Reds boss Brendan Rodgers, who has promised to add a goalscoring midfielder to the squad. The 24-year-old is rated at £20m.
Spurs eye up Fredy Guarin: Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti has revealed that Tottenham want the Colombian midfielder.
Cabaye may head back to France: Newcastle captain Yohan Cabaye has left the door open for a move to mega-rich Monaco after saying it is a deal which could interest him.
PSG make bid for Bale: Reports claim that the French champions have offered a whopping £85m for the Spurs star with manager Andre Villas-Boas and Chelsea’s David Luiz also on their radar.
Higuain to Arsenal:The Evening Standard maintain Arsenal are in winning the race to sign Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain due to Juventus’ decision to go after Tevez instead.
Stephen Ireland to Cobh Ramblers. Okay, that might not come off but the Telegraph reports that the controversial midfielder — a native of the Co Cork harbour town, of course — is free to leave Aston Villa. Chances of a move away from Paul Lambert’s outfit? Four Billos out of five.
