'Arry's Transfer Window: Liverpool can scupper United's Hummels hunt

Plus, Marouane Fellaini’s potential new employer thinks he has lovely hair.

THE WORLD CUP is a distant memory at this stage meaning Premier League enthusiasts only have transfer speculation, pre-season friendlies and the odd European fixture to keep you going until the season starts in a couple of weeks. However, QPR boss Harry Redknapp, a man who knows a thing or two about buying and selling players, is here to help us with a daily round-up of the biggest and best rumours from around Europe.

Hair today, gone tomorrow: Incredibly, Napoli really do want to airlift Marouane Fellaini out of Old Trafford. We couldn’t quite believe the fees mentioned yesterday, but the Napoli president was on Italian radio yesterday and actually said the following:

“Fellaini has long hair and the Swiss [Gökhan Inler] is shaven. Together they have a hairstyle that looks like a lion’s mane and three years ago I presented Inler with the mask of a lion!”

Brede in: Crystal Palace will complete the signing of ex-Fulham central defender Brede Hangeland on a free transfer within the coming days. Not a bad bit of business that.

Ayre to the ground: Liverpool are looking very close to a new signing as ‘Sky sources’ say chief exec Ian Ayre has jetted out to the land of technically gifted players, Spain, to try to sign fullbacks Javi Manquillo and Alberto Moreno

United look for a little help from Liverpool: Another day, another revival for Manchester United’s recruitment team. Mats Hummels is back on the radar with the Champions League-less side reportedly willing to spend up to £30m on the defender. And the move could be helped along if Borussia Dortmund manage to sign up Liverpool’s Tiago Llori as a replacement.

Too rich for Gunners’ blood? Speculation in Portugal these days is saying that Colombian wonderkid Juan Quintero is on his way from Porto to Arsenal. Only problem is that Quintero’s agent say the club have received no offer for the player and his buy-out clause is believed to be around £32m. A lot of cash for yet another tricky mobile playmaker.

Mandatory Atletico Madrid shot in the dark:

“Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda,” says Atleti president Enrique Cerezo… so the Daily Express have taken that as a definite kinda-almost confirmation that they are (maybe) chasing Shinji Kagawa.

Ezequiel 25:17: The Mirror say Liverpool are looking to Ezequiel Lavezzi to help fill the boots of Luis Suarez. If the Argentine does leave PSG, he’d apparently prefer a switch to Juventus.
