From agents to tea ladies, reports on transfers can come from just about anywhere. Independent TD Mick Wallace has this morning tweeted news about Ireland international Kevin Doyle, who wants out of League One side Wolves.
The striker, who was managed by Wallace at Wexford Youths, was believed to be on his way to Middlesbrough on loan but suggestions are now that QPR have joined the races:
Another Irish player who you could be hearing a lot about today is Wes Hoolahan. The Norwich playmaker is looking to join Aston Villa having been chased by former manager Paul Lambert all this month, but Canaries boss Chris Hughton is reluctant to sell.
Chelsea are close to signing French defender Kurt Zouma from St Etienne. The 19-year-old is likely to join today for around £12m.
Liverpool haven’t given up hope on Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka arriving from Dnipro.
West Ham and Fulham are going head-to-head to bring in Kostas Mitroglou of Olympiacos with the Greek forward ready to make the switch to the Premier League.
Tottenham’s Lewis Holtby could be on his way out on loan to Fulham, with talk that Dimitar Berbatov coming in the other direction to rejoin Spurs.
Southampton forward Daniel Osvaldo is being lined up for a return to Serie with Juventus hoping to get the Argentine-born Italian international on loan for the rest of the season.
Arsenal are set to miss out on talented German midfielder Julian Draxler as the Gunners won’t meet Schalke’s asking price of around £37m.
Which transfers would you like to see go through today?

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino says Dani Osvaldo will never play for the club again.
When asked if he still has a future after the training ground bust-up with team-mate Jose Fonte, Pochettino answered: “Your question answers itself, if you know what I mean; meaning no. It’s clear.”
“As soon as anything happens about this matter, the club will make it public.”
Sunderland boss Guy Poyet has linked up with a former player with the arrival of Scottish midfielder Liam Bridcutt from Brighton. The 24-year-old is the Black Cats’ fifth signing this month.
Scottish champions Celtic are set to lose midfielder Joe Ledley to Crystal Palace. The Hoops have reportedly accepted a £2.5m offer for the Welsh international, who is out of contract in the summer.
It seems that Dimtar Berbatov is close to joining Monaco, who are in need of striker with Radamel Falcao injured and Lacina Traore joining Everton on loan. If ever there was a match made in heaven…
“That signing should be done by now. His name is on the paperwork. He is a Cardiff player,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Wilfried Zaha’s loan move from Manchester United.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp, surprisingly speaking in a conference room and not out his car window, has confirmed to Sky Sports that Ireland’s Kevin Doyle is close to joining on a loan move. He is at their training ground this afternoon.
Bad news for West Hoolahan as Norwich City are insisting the Dubliner is “100%” not leaving the Canaries today. If the first half of the season is anything to go by, he can look forward to warming the bench in the coming months.
DONE DEAL — Chelsea have announced the signing of French defender Kurt Zouma, as expected. They will pay around £12 million for the 19-year-old and loan him back to St Etienne for the remainder of the season.

Joining his Manchester United team-mate Wilfried Zaha at Cardiff is one half of the Da Silva twins, Fabio. The Brazilian has signed on a permanent deal for an undisclosed fee.
David Moyes is being a right party-pooper today. The Manchester United boss has got some advice for the Sky Sports reporters:
You can stand the cameras (at the gates of the training ground) down; they won’t be required. We’ve done our business and we’ll get on with it,” said Moyes today.
“There’s no disappointment because I said at the start of the window that we probably wouldn’t do much business in January. That’s for lots of different reasons, not any one thing.”
The good folk at League One club Crawley Town, these days managed by John Gregory, are getting slightly ahead of themselves by lining out kits for three players they’re “hoping” to sign.
The latest in the Wes Hoolahan saga is that a fourth bid from an unnamed club has been mande for the Norwich man — the first three being from Aston Villa. Time is running out, however, with just over seven hours until the window shuts.
So Ireland striker Kevin Doyle joins Harry Redknapp’s QPR until the end of the season, meaning he will be battle for promotion to the Premier League with the Rs — currently second in the Championship.
“The club’s in a great position for a tilt at promotion and I can’t wait to be part of it” Doyle said.
“It was a massive draw to know I’ll be part of a promotion push and obviously the manager played a huge role in my decision to come here as well.”
Best of luck to him. Here he is looking chuffed with life alongside Richard Dunne at training today.

As Liverpool’s move for Yevhen Konoplyanka falters, it’s being reported that they’re considering a move for Tottenham’s Nacer Chadli.
Meanwhile, AC Milan, who have wrapped up a move for Adel Taarabt from Fulham, are now considering a move for Man United winger Nani.

BREAKING: Porto’s Eliaquim Mangala and Fernando will apparently not be signing for Man City for £35million deal, with the deal called off.
Probably for the best as far as their rivals are concerned — they’re hardly a club in dire need of strengthening.

Seems as if Lee Cattermole is set to sign for Stoke, with Liam Bridcutt’s move to Sunderland paving the way for his departure from the Stadium of Light.
In more low-key Irish transfer news, David Connolly has gone from Portsmouth to Oxford on loan. He’s 36 now. Here he is scoring against Ajax many years ago.
Alan Smith is discussing Arsenal’s prospective acquisition of Kim Kallstrom, and says the Gunners will likely have more competition in signing Draxler if he has a good World Cup this summer.
Meanwhile, Dani Osvaldo’s move to Juventus has been confirmed.

It’s understood that the Yevhen Konoplyanka transfer is being held up because the two clubs can’t agree a fee.
In addition, the rumours surrounding Chadli possibly going to Liverpool has also gone quiet, seemingly.
Meanwhile, it’s being suggested that, despite suggestions to the contrary, Lazio’s Miroslav Klose won’t be moving to Arsenal.
The forgotten man at Old Trafford, Federico Macheda, has gone on loan to Birmingham. They’ll be hoping he scores more goals like the one below on a regular basis.
As it happened: Transfer Deadline Day

Just five hours now until the 11 o’clock deadline.
But more importantly, just two hours until Jim White’s arrival on SSN.

Not too much happening at the moment.

I’m sorry, there’s just been a lack of excitement lately.
At least one Sky Sports News presenter has come highly prepared for the wet and windy conditions.
Sky are now saying that the Hoolahan-to-West Brom deal is “unlikely,” as Norwich want someone on loan to replace him first.
£126million has been spent by Premier League clubs so far this January.
So here’s every deal that’s been confirmed so far today (h/t BBC Sport)
Chelsea, Man United and erm, Hull, are the top three biggest spenders so far this January (h/t Sky Sports News).
Meanwhile, Cardiff have been the busiest Premier League club, signing six players.
Kim Kallstrom is officially an Arsenal player.
HOOLAHAN LATEST! He is apparently “nowhere near” signing for West Brom at the moment.
Look who’s just turned up…
Ross McCormack is speaking on Sky now, saying he’s “gutted” that Brian McDermott is sacked.
He seems to be suggesting that the manager’s departure makes him more likely to leave the club.
The forgotten man at Old Trafford, Federico Macheda, has gone on loan to Birmingham. They’ll be hoping he scores more goals like the one below on a regular basis.

Ian Harte is not impressed by recent developments at Leeds.
Sky Sports News informs me that Yevhen Konoplyanka is undertaking a medical at Liverpool.
The clubs still haven’t agreed on a fee though.
Apparently Nani won’t be leaving United, with the club refusing to sell their winger to Juventus.
We’ll miss you Berba!
So who do you think has been the best January transfer signing so far?
Poll Results:
The news that Philippe Senderos has left Fulham for Valencia has been greeted with loud cheers by the supporters of the former.
The Swiss defender was clearly not a fan favourite at Craven Cottage.
Looks like Wes Hoolahan is going nowhere!
*TOM INCE KLAXON* He’s finally agreed a loan deal to Palace.
The club also seem to have sealed deals for Wayne Hennessy and Joe Ledley.
Less than 20 minutes to go before the closure of the transfer window.
Yevhen Konoplyanka to Liverpool seems to be the only high-profile transfer that may still go through.
West Brom may have missed out on Wes Hoolahan, but they’ve just signed Espanyol striker Thievy Bifouma.
Meanwhile, QPR have signed their FOURTH striker of the day — Modibo Maiga comes in on loan from West Ham.
As the Deadline Day closure looms, it looks like Liverpool are set to seal the signing of Yevhen Konoplyanka.
Could he be the man to inspire them to finish in the top four?
IT’S ALL OVER! The familiar noise of the Big Ben tells us that the transfer window has closed for another few months.
Can any last-minute deals still be pushed through?
Nothing too dramatic to report in terms of late deals.
The best Sky can come up with is that Stoke have seemingly signed Rennes midfielder Jonathan Pitroipa.
Still no confirmation on Yevhen Konoplyanka to Liverpool. Here’s a YouTube video of his skills to keep you amused.

Joe Ledley has officially signed for Palace.
Celtic fans won’t be too happy with that!
So it seems that Yevhen Konoplyanka’s move to Liverpool is off.
Dnipro and the Reds couldn’t agree a fee, apparently, with some disputes involving agents also confusing matters.
So here’s an updated list of every transfer that’s been confirmed today:
Poor Ian Ayre’s getting a lot of flak on Twitter.
Right, that’s all from us for another transfer window as far as the liveblog is concerned, though we’ll have more reaction to come.
