Cathal Forde had been in the middle of a session with Kilburn Gaels.

LONDON GAA IS in shock after hurler Cathal Forde died during a training session with club Kilburn Gaels yesterday evening.

The 28-year-old, who played at corner back, was rushed to hospital after collapsing in Highgate.

Paramedics were unsuccessful in resuscitating him and he was pronounced dead an hour later, London PRO Declan Flanagan confirmed to TheScore this afternoon.

Originally from Gort in County Galway, Forde had been living in England and playing alongside his brother Niall for the past two years.

Speaking about his sibling, Niall told The Irish Post:

“He was committed to hurling and his girlfriend Sheila. As a sportsman, he was reliable and the type of player who wouldn’t let you down.”
