Kane scores from halfway and Parrott impresses as Tottenham beat Juve

Irish striker Parrott started and played 45 minutes for Spurs in Singapore.

HARRY KANE STRUCK a sensational stoppage-time winner from the centre circle as Tottenham claimed an entertaining 3-2 International Champions Cup win over Juventus in Singapore on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettinoโ€™s side, who won the competition last year, forged ahead in the 31st minute courtesy of Erik Lamelaโ€™s close-range strike, but the Serie A champions stormed back thanks to goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Half-time substitute Lucas Moura pulled Spurs level in the 65th minute, though, before Kane beat goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny from just inside Juveโ€™s half deep in added time.

Tottenham continue their preparations for the 2019/20 campaign against Manchester United in Shanghai on Thursday, while Juve face Serie A rivals Inter in Nanjing a day earlier.

Champions League finalists Spurs started in confident fashion, with Son Heung-min striking the outside of the post from an acute angle inside the opening four minutes.

Ronaldo fizzed a half-volley wide from the edge of the penalty area in what was Juveโ€™s only clear opening of the first half.

Spursโ€™ positive approach was rewarded when Lamela bundled home from close range after Gianluigi Buffon got down well to parry Troy Parrottโ€™s low strike from an incisive break.

Parrott impressed throughout his first-half performance having recovered from the leg injury that kept him out of Irelandโ€™s U17 European Championship campaign earlier this summer.

Lucas crashed a powerful long-range drive wide shortly after the restart before Higuain โ€“ linked with a loan move to Roma โ€“ pulled the Italian champions level in the 56th minute, stroking into the bottom corner from 16 yards after some slick passing outside the area.

That was followed four minutes later by Ronaldoโ€™s strike, the Portugal superstar meeting Mattia De Sciglioโ€™s low cross with a first-time effort that flew past Paulo Gazzaniga.

The lively Lucas restored parity in the 65th minute, however, after flicking a clever pass from debutant Tanguy Ndombele over Wojciech Szczesny from 12 yards.

With the game looking destined for a deciding penalty shoot-out, England captain Kane spotted Szczesny off his line and beat him from just inside Juveโ€™s half with a precision strike that will live long in the memory.

Is it just me or does anyone else dislike the idea of using a headbutt? Always seems a bit knackery to me

He has proved time and time again that he has serious temper issues and has over inflated opinions of himself, but when it comes to actually doing it himself, as a manager, he canโ€™t do it. Brilliant footballer but essentially a gobdaw

Now thatโ€™s what I call a proper Football Bio anecdote. Granted there is a bit if the old ultra violence thrown in which may not be to everyoneโ€™s taste. But like with most things with Keane, it ainโ€™t dull.
