TOTTENHAM HAVE ANNOUNCED the signing of Emmanuel Adebayor from Manchester City on a permanent basis.
The Togolese striker scored 18 goals for the North London side last season in all competitions, while on loan from the Eastlands club, but it had been feared that the move might break down over the 28-year-old’s wage demands.
Sources close to Tottenham insist that the club has not broken its wage structure and Adebayor has, seemingly, come to an agreement with Manchester City over a loyalty bonus pay-off.
He had been on wages of £175,000-a-week at City.
The former Arsenal star told the club’s official website: “I am pleased to be signing for Spurs on a permanent basis after finally agreeing my departure with Manchester City.
“It may have taken longer than expected but I am delighted to be back at Tottenham Hotspur.
“I really enjoyed my time here last season and I am hoping we can achieve great things together again.”
