LEGENDARY DEISE PLAYER Tony Browne is seeking a Waterford senior hurling crown this weekend at the age of 41 as Mount Sion take on Ballygunner in Sunday’s showpiece.
Mount Sion are appearing in their first final since 2006 when they won the title. Ballygunner lost last year’s decider and are chasing their first crown since 2012.
The traditional Waterford heavyweights shared out the twelve titles in the county between 1995 and 2006 – winning six apiece – while they faced each other in seven of those finals.
The other big senior hurling showdown this weekend is in Clare with Crusheen taking on Cratloe. Cian Dillon is a key figure for Crusheen while the Clare All-Ireland winners in opposition include Podge Collins, Conor McGrath and Conor Ryan.
