TOM MCKIBBIN slid back the field today at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa on the DP World Tour.

The Northern Irishman began the day five shots off the lead, but is now nine shots back following a second round of 73, which included four birdies but five bogies.

McKibbin yesterday carded an opening round of three-under 69 at Leopard Creek CC in Malelane, to stand in a tie for 12th.

Swedish golfer Marcus Kinhult leads on 11 under, with McKibbin in a tie for 44th on two under.

Dubliner Conor Purcell had a round of 71 to add to his opening day 75 and missed the cut by three shots.

Meanwhile five Irish golfers were competing at LIV Golf Promotions at the Riyadh Golf Club in Saudi Arabia.

The tournament started yesterday with the top 10 finishers, including ties, set to earn full exemption into all 2025 events in LIV’s International Series, sanctioned by the Asian Tour.

Mark Power just missed out on the top 20, who progress to the final day’s 36 holes. He shot a two-under-par 69 to leave him in a tie for 26th, one shot shy of the play-off for 20th.
