ASTON VILLA HAVE announced the signing of midfielder Tom Cleverley on a season-long loan.
The 25-year-old England international joins after the arrivals of Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria saw him fall down the pecking order at Manchester United.
A deal was agreed by the clubs before the transfer window shut last night but Villa had to seek Premier League approval to complete the move today.
Everton were also interested in Cleverley’s services but he will spend the campaign at the Birmingham outfit.
Quite ironic how the picture of him they use is actually a goal he scored against Villa.
Is that not an England shirt he’s wearing?
No they edited out the logos of United and their sponsors, you can still see the Premiership badge on his sleeve

The fool wanted 80k a week at everton. Bloated self opinion the lad had. He wanted everton and refused it, no doubt he was told he had no future at utd so went to Villa
And thats no disrespect at villa.
To fair it’s a great deal for him his contract is up next year and the likes of Everton will take him on a free if he is after a half decent season with Villa and with it being a free transfer he will get better wages/ signing on fee.. With saying that he could flop which id likely and Everton won’t want him. But I still think a club like Villa will suit him as he isn’t that bad but just not good enough for a top 6 team..
The only fools are United could of sold him for £5 million instead will get nothing in 12months.. £5million was a great offer for a player that’s not wanted and out of contract in 12months
United actually really wanted to sell him, but in the end the had to get rid of him at all cost.
From an Irish point of view I’m delighted he didn’t go to Everton.

You can blame the guy for never showing any hunger or ambition when he was given unlimited chances though. I’d rather someone lacking in talent and giving 100% than someone who showed promise at the start, let it gets to his head, acts smug on the ball and has such an inability to give a clinical pass. He then had the audacity to complain about wages offered when clubs came knocking, acting like he justified it with his performances.

Hopefully those days are finished Truth, must give manager time to place his mark on team. Was like that at Man U between Busby and Fergie, so that whole ‘United way’ was BS, and so far has started like again since he left….. LVG must be given time…. Fergie had a rough time too, but patience paid off big time, but nowadays, its more money driven and the league is much more competitive, will any manager, at any club except Arsenal be given enough time anymore…. Look at Spurs, Chelsea, even Man City win league and was not enough to save Mancini….

The lad was compared to Scholes from the minute he pulled on a united shirt, big shoes to fill for any player.he was set up for a big fall by fans and the media.
With the pressure of hopefully he can do a job for Villa.
Cleverlys main problem at Utd as was other players like, Nani, Welbeck, Evans etc, was that Fergies loyalty to them was he saw them with blinkers on. Fergie was always looking for the next batch of the class of ’92.
Unlike other top world clubs, Real, Barca, Milan,United under fergie had no ruthless streak. They gave you a year or so then it was good luck and thanks if you didn’t step up to graðe. Hence Cleverly’s ego and lack of what United require….world class talent. Hope he does well at Villa.
