Timing the run: Brady keeps Patriots on a roll over Texans

Houston were made to look very, very ordinary last night.

THE NEW ENGLAND  Patriots recorded their seventh consecutive victory with a 42-14 win over the Houston Texans in the NFL last night.

Quarterback Tom Brady dominated for the home team at Gillette Stadium, throwing 296 yards for four touchdowns, ending the Texans’ six-match winning streak in the process.

The Patriots (10-3) have already sealed the American Football Conference Eastern Division title, and the win over fellow high-flyers Houston (11-2) means they are now just one game behind the Texans in the overall AFC standings.

Brady issued TD passes of seven yards and four yards for Aaron Hernandez and 37 yards for Brandon Lloyd in the first half, while Donte’ Stallworth connected with a 67-yard TD pass from Brady in the third quarter.

Streak

A match between the two highest-scoring teams in the NFL was decided by the input of Brady, who made it 45 consecutive matches in which he has managed at least one TD pass – the third longest streak in the competition’s history.

Despite the loss, Houston are already guaranteed a wildcard berth and lead the AFC South by two games from the Indianapolis Colts, who they play twice in the final three weeks of the regular season.
