NFL: Bironas earns Titans dramatic win

Bironas kicked his fourth field goal of the night, from 40 yards, as the game ended to spark wild celebrations at Nashville’s LP Field.

A LATE FIELD goal from Rob Bironas gave the Tennessee Titans a thrilling 26-23 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL on Thursday.

Bironas kicked his fourth field goal of the night, from 40 yards, as the game ended to spark wild celebrations at Nashville’s LP Field. It was the Steelers who started stronger with Mike Wallace’s early touchdown helping them to a 10-6 lead at the first break.

Tennessee stormed back into the lead though, with Jamie Harper scoring a touchdown in the second quarter that the Titans won 10-0. A tense but unremarkable third quarter left the match delicately poised at the final change, with the winners leading 16-13.

The topsy-turvy nature of the encounter continued as a Baron Batch touchdown and a Shaun Suisham field goal gave the Steelers a 23-16 lead. Tennessee levelled up proceedings with less than five minutes to play though, with Matt Hasselbeck’s throwing a five-yard pass to Kenny Britt who scored a crucial touchdown.

And after Suisham missed a field goal from 54 yards, Bironas made him pay with a special effort to win the game for his side in the final seconds of the clash.

Tennessee’s win saw them end a three-match losing streak.
