The Tipperary and Waterford hurlers are heading to Thurles for the Munster final

Semple Stadium is the venue chosen for the clash on 12 July.

SEMPLE STADIUM HAS been chosen as the venue for next month’s Munster senior hurling final.

Tipperary and Waterford will be heading to the Thurles venue on Sunday 12 July for this year’s decider.

The Munster Competitions Control Committee made the decision over the venue at a meeting tonight.

The Gaelic Grounds in Limerick and Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney were the other venues under consideration with Páirc Uí Chaoimh currently unavailable due to a major stadium redevelopment.

The Cork venue had hosted the most recent Munster finals between Tipperary and Waterford in 2011 and 2012.

In 2009, Tipperary and Waterford did clash in Semple Stadium with the Thurles having previous been designated as the venue for the Munster final due to the GAA’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

It will be the fourth Munster decider between the counties in the last 13 years with Waterford’s last final triumph over the Premier back in 2002.
